Considerations Relative to Assignments
Referee assignments are based on availability, known conflicts of interest, Club evaluations, experience, age, quality of refereeing and license grade.

Communication of Availabilty to the Referee Assignor
It is the responsibility of the Referee to contact the Referee Assignor to be assigned games. The referee must also communicate their availability on a regular basis for accepting assignments. It is not the responsibility of the Referee Assignor to contact the referees to check on availability. Availabilty can be communciated through the web form under "Assignments" or by contacting the Referee Assignor at refs@columbusexpress.com.

Referee Confirmation Requirement
Referees are responsible for checking their assignment schedule to verify and confirm all of their scheduled games.

Referee Checklist
Referees must have their valid USSF patch, official referee uniform on, and their referee equipment including: flags, whistle, red/yellow cards, time watch.

Assignment Swapping
Referees are not allowed to arrange to switch scheduled assignments with another referee. All referee scheduling must be done through the Referee Assignor.

Scheduled Assignments
Referee are expected to be willing to accept assignments for games that they are qualified. General guidelines are that referees can center (CR) up to two ages younger, and can assist (AR) up to the same age.

Payment to Referees
Referee are paid for each assignment that they referee. Referees should be paid in cash by the home team, and should require payment prior to the start of the match. If the home team does not pay, the referees have no obligation to officiate the match. If the referee officiates a match prior to receiving payment and the home team refuses to pay, the risk will be born by the referees. Referees should not accept payment in any other form than cash.
